Trailer Trash Thursday 5: Thrashin'

In my opinion, aside from Animal Chin, this is the quintessential 1980's skateboard movie. Starring Josh Brolin as the valley boy Corey Webster, Thrashin' is pure 80's skateboarding madness... Whether its freestyling in front of crowds at Venice Beach, skating vert on secret backyard ramps, shredding concrete bowls, bombing hills, or just plain street skating 1980's style, this movie has it all. I've probably seen this film 100 times or more, and it NEVER gets old.

I Feel Like An Idiot

After freaking out all day long at work yesterday, fearing that I had lost my wallet, I found it in the most obvious place ever when I got home!!! Of course I had already cancelled all my credit cards and put freezes on my accounts by the time I found it... DOH!

Well after taking way too much time on the last book I read, I decided to start reading "George Orwell's" classic book, 1984. Quite frankly I'm surprised I never got around to reading it yet, since I've had it sitting on my bookshelf for quite a number of years now... After only reading the first couple of chapters, I am already sucked in, and am astonished at how closely Oceania, resembles modern day North Korea... WEIRD! This book is a royal mindbender of a read, and it's pretty freaky how modern society seems to be moving closer and closer to what Orwell dreamt up...

So despite being happy about going to my first NBA playoff game 7 EVER, and the Laker's winning handily, I'm still a bit bummed out. I was kind of hoping for a nail biter of a game where Kobe saved the day in the last minute. Instead the Lakers decided to play good basketball and kicked the shit out of the Rockets (like they should have done 3 games ago) and sent them home. Up next... The Thuggets

Even if they beat the Rockets in game 7 on Sunday I'm almost ready to call Denver in 5 for the Western Conference Finals. On the brighter side, at least I will get to check going to a game 7 off of my basketball wish list!

I Finally Got A Spaceman Suit

I'll be the first one to admit that I've made fun of how lame road bike gear looks for the most part. In fact I never thought in a million years that I would ever even get into road biking. Boy was I wrong! Not only do I have a road bike, but I finally caved in and got the "tights" too. I've tried for the past few weeks to ride in some of my tighter mountain biking gear, buy they just don't work. Those clothes are still WAY TO BAGGY. Also every time I go to the Rose Bowl and ride, I get weird looks from all the serious bikers for wearing that stuff. So today I caved in and went full roadie. Luckily, I at least i found some gear that's very minimal in terms of logo overload, and also its almost all black, so its not too ridiculous. By the way, if you ever see me out on my bike riding around in this stuff I will probably ignore you out of sheer embarrassment.

All In A Days Work

So here's a little video a friend and I made a few years back with no budget, only a weeks worth of brainstorming, and one day of guerilla style shooting all over Los Angeles. It's called Down For Tha Fight, and it is by everyone's favorite Old English swigging Bay Area rapper, Motion Man. Unfortunately some of the ideas we had didn't pan out, and the guy who was supposed to do graphics on this flaked out, so it was never "completed" the way I had hoped. Oh well, its still kind of cool regardless.

We went to the Dodgers game today and had awesome seats. Unfortunately, we showed up late and left early due to prior obligations, but it was a fun time never-the-less. Oh yeah, I got scolded by the Rent A Cops in the parking lot before the game for trying to save money and drink a 2 dollar beer in the parking lot instead of a 20 dollar one inside the park. HAHAHA.

Go Lakers Part 2 (Round 3)

For over a year at least there was a sick mural on the 110 South under the bridge right before the Chinatown Exit. It was a "GO LAKERS" piece by RUETS. Anyways, a few weeks ago the spot got buffed, a new piece was up which ran for a little bit, and then the spot got buffed again. So on the way to work today I looked up and low and behold, a new "GO LAKERS" themed purple and gold piece by RUETS. NICE!!! Unfortunately I had to steal these pics from a GRAF site, but I'm going to try to snap a few of my own before it gets buffed again.
