There Goes The Season

In an unbelievably freak stroke of bad luck Kobe fell into Bynum's knee tonight and injured him. I'm betting he is done for the season, so if anything less than that is the outcome I'll be somewhat happier. This injury couldn't have come at a worse time... Bynum was beginning to dominate, and we play both Cleveland and Boston on the road in the next week or so.

Gearing Up

With the 10K being a little over a week away I decided to run a test 10K to see where I was at tonight. Final tally, 6.2 miles in 60 minutes. I think I am ready...

People Of Los Angeles... Let The Games Begin!

So I got an email today about this crazy Race/ Scavenger Hunt/ Amazing Race rip-off that is going to be held in Downtown Los Angeles on March 21st. It is called The Great Urban Race and looks like a TON of fun. I'm not sure who my partner is going to be yet, but hopefully we can place in the top 25 and go to the Championship Round in New Orleans. I feel like I have a major advantage since I'm a Los Angeles native and I am extremely familiar with downtown and the surrounding areas! Bring it on Suckas!

Another Day My Of Life Wasted

I knew today was going to be a total piece of shit from the second I got on the freeway. There was some insane accident so it took me over 2 hours to get to work, which had me wanting to just say F it and turn around and go home. Upon arrival at work shit was immediately hitting the fan, and it continued throughout the day. 15 hours later when I finally finished up, I hopped in my car and blasted the "Nyyyyaaaaahhhhhh Metal Mix" compliments of my friend Kris (the only good time I had all day), and sped home as fast as I could thinking about how much I love being a part of the Rat Race.

Rich Dad Poor Dad

In the last 2 days i zipped through my latest book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. It was recommended to me since I want to start investing my money to get out of the "Rat Race" and do my own thing. Hopefully it works. So remember the day, January 27 2009. If I become a millionaire, then you will know that the book works.

Call Of Duty 5: World At War

After several months of playing it, I finally beat Fallout 3. You know what that means right? On to the next game!!! Luckily I had Call of Duty 5: World At War on deck... Im only a few missions in, but so far IT DOES NOT DISSAPOINT! The other badass thing about it, is that since I just finished the The War by Ken Burns, I feel like I'm even more immersed in the story line than I would have been otherwise. Kind of a weird coincidence, but awesome none-the-less.

The War

It took us a couple of weeks, but my fiance and I just finished up The War, by Ken Burns. This is kind of an understatement, but it was great! It was also pretty depressing at times, but being a fan of history, WW2, and great documentaries in general, I didn't let it get me too down. The situations that many of the people narrating the film found themselves in were just too mind boggling to comprehend. In some situations it was just a given that over 50% of the men were going to be killed on arrival, and they just had to deal with it. Anyways I could go on and on about specific stories and memorable moments in The War, but my recounting just wouldn't do them any justice. One thing is for sure though, I really want to talk to my Grandparents after watching this to see what stories they might have. My Grandpa was a Navy Pilot in the south Pacific, and had 6 other brothers who were in the service, and my Fiance's late great uncle served in the 442nd Batallion, so I am sure they have some crazy tales to tell! Despite being almost $100 for the DVD set, i managed to find it used for about half that, which is still a bit steep but well worth it for the hours of entertainment and knowledge of history that it gives you.

Suspended In Time

I never even knew that a video existed for this song until about 5 minutes ago. In my opinion, this is one of the smoothest beats ever created.

The Getty Center

We went to the Getty Center today to hang out with a friend who will be leaving the country soon. It was kind of funny because we hardly even looked at any art, except for this Yosemite Photo Exhibit. It was such a perfect day, we mainly just chilled out near the garden area and took in the awesome view...

All I can think about is being outdoors this weekend as much as humanly possible! Preferably on some single track or at least somewhere in the San Gabriel Mountains. Only The Nomad can make that wish come true....

I'm Really Starting To Hate The 80s

I never would have figured that some of my favorite toys and cartoons from the 80's would come back and make my life a living hell! I can't go into the details because it involves some shit that people seem to think is more top secret than the blue prints to the Pentagon...

Stupid Face

Last night my fiance and I met up with our friend Kurt down in Echo Park at the 2 Headed Horse Studios. We were there to attend the season 2 premiere party for a show called Stupid Face. Despite watching Fuel TV quite often, I had never heard of the show, mainly because it's on at odd hours late in the night. I'm glad we went though because it was hilarious. Stupid face is just a bunch of super random clips starring re-occurring characters that are just to outlandish to describe. One cool thing though is that it stars Laban Pheidias a former pro skater who was pretty badass back in the day, but who has since moved on to much stranger things like this show. Another cool thing was that while at the premiere I did some networking and made some great new contacts.

Brown Mountain or El Prieto Trail???

Keeping up with my New Years Resolution, I was definitely going to go for a bike ride today. I called up Blowtar and we decided to just go exploring around the JPL area since a few different trails split off from there. We rode on the main trail head for about 10 minutes when we came to a fork. A decision had to be made. Do we ride up the same fire road that we went on last time and take it farther? Or do we ride up the mystery trail and see what happens? We took the MYSTERY TRAIL of course, and luckily weren't disappointed. It was a tough climb, but along the way we saw all sorts of cool obstacles that we knew would be a blast to ride over on the way back down. The trail was pretty technical at times, and there was even a few sections that were pretty much only hike-a-bikeable unless you happened to be some Expert MTB'r with legs that can pedal up anything. Overall the trail was awesome and now we know of some other options to make it an even crazier ride next time. Here are some pics.
